The President’s and Provost’s Office suite is located in the heart of the main campus on the top floor of historic Freeman Hall. The reception area highlights an art gallery along the hallway. The interior finishes incorporate warm cherry woodwork, custom storage cabinetry, and cherry furniture. An awkward octagonal space in the building’s tower is transformed to a unique, well-appointed small meeting room. The Board Room features updated tele-conference and presentation technology set in custom cabinetry, energy efficient lighting, and modular furniture to accommodate various events. College executives supported an unconventional transition to an open workplace for several reasons: to maximize daylight throughout the office, to facilitate collaboration, and to more effectively use the limited space available. Interior walls have translucent windows to divide areas and yet transmit natural light to the inner rooms.
